Since RPG Maker quit using RTP, some developers use other methods to keep project files minimal. Also, I don’t want to upload a MV and a MZ zip file every time. Hence, all Demo projects on my blog contain only the minimal required files.
To import a project into your RPG Maker, do the following.
- Open the Engine (RPG Maker MV or MZ) of your choice.
- Create a new Project, give it the same name as the zip file you just downloaded.
- Close RPG Maker.
- Unzip the zip file and put all its folders (usually data, js, …) into the project directory of your created Project. Windows may ask you if you want to override files – accept the prompt.
When you start RPG Maker again, it should have successfully imported the Demo project that you downloaded. You want to check the Plugin Manager now, as some 3rd Party Plugins can be (de)activated.
